Welcome Families,

My name is Katelyn Piestrak and I am the K-12 English as a Second Language teacher at Bloomsburg Area School District. I provide English language development (ELD) instruction, otherwise known as English as a second language (ESL), services to all students within the Bloomsburg Area School District who qualify for services.

​

I graduated from Bloomsburg University of PA with a Bachelor's of Science in Education, PK-4 Early Childhood Education/Dual PK-8 Special Education. I also earned my K-12 English as a Second Language Program Specialist Certificate. I love traveling, being outdoors,running/jogging, shopping, "crafting", animals, etc. I have 1 pug, 2 cats, 2 gold fish, and 5 chickens. I adore meeting new people and learning about different cultures!

 

Furthermore, I am very excited to work with all English Learner (EL) students to help them to learn, grow, and improve on their English language proficiency.There are more than 61,000 English Learners (ELs) speaking more than 200 different languages in Pennsylvania. This fact alone expresses the amount of diversity within our state alone!

 

I truly believe that each student has a unique and magnificent quality to bring to each classroom and the importance of embracing diversity is essential! Each day I learn something new right alongside each student! I am looking forward to this school year continuing this teaching journey!
